Time for a couple of oldies-but-goodies... Up first are several selections from Antonio Adolfo's Hybrido: From Rio to Wayne Shorter (AAM Records, 2016), including Marcelo Martins' swinging flute on "Beauty and the Beast." And we've had a couple of stormy nights this past week here in San Antonio. Virginia Rodrigues' stunning take on Dorival Caymmi's "Noite de Temporal" captures the thunder. What a voice. Our first set this week includes composer-singer-pianist Delia Fischer 's intriguing "Your Voice in My Head" (from Beyond Bossa , Origin, 2024), with English lyrics by Allen Morrison. The piece is a reflection on the emotional toll of artificial intelligence and social media.
