This set is inspired by John Hadfield's album Drum of Stories (In a Circle Records, 2023), and we feature a few tracks from that beautiful project (with Grégory Privat and Chris Jennings), along with selections from recordings of Collin Walcott and especially Naná Vasconcelos, who inspired it. And for a teaser... Our first set this week includes composer-singer-pianist Delia Fischer 's intriguing "Your Voice in My Head" (from Beyond Bossa , Origin, 2024), with English lyrics by Allen Morrison. The piece is a reflection on the emotional toll of artificial intelligence and social media.
