Double header - Paula Maya's Rio De Janeiro and Livio Almeida's Brasília Sessions

This week's edition of Caminhos do Jazz is a double header, with releases from two Brazilian expats now living in the US. Singer-pianist-songwriter Paula Maya hails from Rio de Janeiro, which also happens to be the title of her new album, a collection of original pieces (plus one Jobim favorite) in the spirit of MPB, música popular brasileira. For years, she has called Austin,Texas home. Saxophonist-composer Livio Almeida grew up in Brasília, where he recorded his new project, Brasília Sessions, a program of originals and Brazilian jazz classics. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. Check the YouTube for a taste (plus Brasília Sessions on Spotify and Rio de Janeiro on Bandcamp). Click to listen to this week's show...
